This is a photo I took on Sunday, of a computer printout I made on October 19th 1987, a.k.a. 'Black Monday'. I remember vividly being mesmerised by the catastrophic falls on the FTSE index. Monday was the first day of trading after big falls on Wall Street at the end of the week before. Our markets were closed on the Friday 16th because of the hurricane that had caused havoc in the south of England overnight.
The printout was made on an early inkjet printer and is a screen print from a London Stock Exchange TOPIC display.
This was just the first day of falls. If my memory is right, October 20th saw another big fall, then there was a steady decline until the FTSE was about 1500.
This, along with most of the images in my archive are available on high quality 90x60cm stretched canvas for only GBP 99 including delivery to the UK and many other European countries. If you're interested, please use the 'contact' button. [Though I doubt anyone will want a canvas of this!]
Happy snapping. Steve
